What is the minimum area to install the system?
There is no technical minimum: the system works the same on a small plot as on a large estate. In practice, the payback is comfortable from about 25 hectares. If your farm is smaller, tell us anyway: some cases are worth studying.
Do I need mobile coverage across the whole farm?
No. The sensor network is a private LoRaWAN network we set up on your farm, and only the gateway uses a SIM to send the data. The sensors communicate with the gateway by radio, even where there is no mobile coverage in the field.
What happens if I leave the service?
You keep everything: the hardware is yours from installation, and so is your data history. And since we work on the LoRaWAN standard, your sensors are portable to other platforms if you ever decide to switch.
What if a sensor breaks?
All equipment carries a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects. Field damage — a knock from an implement, a rodent — is on the farm, but while your subscription is active, replacements come under preferential conditions.
Is it compatible with my current irrigation controller?
It depends on your installation, which is why we assess it during the technical visit. In most cases there are two paths: coexistence with your current controller, or phased integration up to full automation.
Can I start small?
Yes, and it is what we recommend to many farms: the characterization flight and a basic sensing kit to begin with, then expanding sector by sector as you see results.
Does automatic irrigation take away my control?
No. You approve the irrigation plan, every opening and closing is logged, and manual control is always available, from the app and physically in the field. Automation removes the valve rounds, not the wheel.
How long until it is up and running?
The characterization flight is usually delivered within 4-6 weeks. The full service — sensors installed, platform configured and your team trained — is operational within 8-10 weeks.
What is the CWSI and why is it better than irrigating by calendar?
The CWSI is the crop water stress index, measured from canopy temperature: a tree that transpires well cools itself, and a thirsty one heats up. It detects the real need for water before it becomes visible, whereas the calendar irrigates the same whether it rains or the heat presses. We explain it in detail on our science page.
What is the difference between satellite data and plant data?
A satellite sees pixels several metres wide, passes every few days, and clouds get in the way. A plant sensor measures your tree, on your farm, continuously. For deciding the week's irrigation, the direct measurement on the plant wins. More on the scientific basis.
